Onion Skinning

Onion skinning is possibly the most important feature of a stop motion animation app.  It helps the animator to perfect the tiny adjustments required between frames that create the illusion of smooth motion in the finished movie.

It works by making the live video from the camera semi-transparent and superimposing it onto the previous frame, so it's easy to see how far objects need to be moved for the next shot.

Special Effects

Choose from 18 stunning effects including Chroma Key (green screen or blue screen), Toon and Color Splash. Effects are applied to the live camera feed so you can see exactly what you'll capture.

You can customize each effect and make changes as you capture.  Go wild and chain effects together to build something never seen before!

Time Lapse

Speed up the world around you!  Just point your camera and let Smoovie automatically take photos at regular intervals to make amazing time lapse videos.

Filmstrip Editor - precision editing

Smoovie’s virtual filmstrip shows the frames in each scene.  The filmstrip gives a surprising amount of editing power, yet this simple concept enables children to easily grasp the basics of making movies.

Scenes Editor - tell a better story

Smoovie’s unique editor lets you arrange your content in scenes.  Each scene has an independently adjustable playback speed (from 1 to 30 frames per second), allowing you to vary the pace and mood of your animation.

Mix it up!  You can add new scenes, cut unwanted scenes, capture new action into existing scenes and drag scenes around to change the running order - all with full undo support so you're safe to experiment!

Share the Magic

Once you've made a smoovie, you'll probably want to show it off to everyone!  Smoovie lets you publish directly to Vimeo so you can share your creations with the world.

You can also export your animations to iTunes and take them with you on your iPhone or iPad. And if you've got Apple TV, you can delight your friends and family by showing them your masterpieces on television with AirPlay Mirroring.

Fullscreen Playback

Once you’ve finished creating your masterpiece, sit back and enjoy it in Smoovie’s fullscreen mode.
